The first few steps are usually the most difficult in trying out new things. When I first started out dancing back when I was 14, I had little experience from the embarrassing moments I had to dance for school activities and grades. So you see I wasn’t much and I thought of myself less. I simply couldn’t sulk, so I had to face my fears and took my very first dancing class. I even remember my mom being more enthusiastic than I was and she literally dragged me into applying. From the moment I started classes I knew things were going to be different, better.
Before, I barely knew what I was capable of. Believe me when I say the crowd’s judgement took over who I was, but as soon as I faced my fears I started to understand that dancing was more than being confident about oneself.
“Dancing is about accepting yourself first, and showing off second.”

Okay, maybe you feel like dancing is not your thing based on what you know. From my four year experience, I can tell you dancing is more diverse than you think. There are the common ones like Urban, Hip-hop, Ballroom, Ballet, and Contemporary/Interpretative. Then there are the least known such as Krump, Vogue, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Popping and many more. (Get to know more about these genres as well as tips from my future posts.)
I have personally tried out some of these and my favorites are Krump, Urban, Afrobeats, and I also dance to Kpop.
Enough about me, what about you? From this moment on, you’ll be getting scoops about dancing as well as the community from an insider. I am Sebastian Casem and I have created this blog to help out other aspiring dancers and curious ones such as yourself.
